Project Oasis Celebrates Navratri Dandiya Dance Festival in Pleasanton

 

Project Oasis recently hosted an unforgettable celebration of Navratri with a Dandiya dance festival in Pleasanton. This vibrant event brought together local communities to support a noble cause: addressing the water crisis in Rajasthan, India.

 

 

Event Highlights

 

 

The Navratri Dandiya Dance Festival was a night filled with fun, music, and community spirit. Here are some of the exciting attractions that made the event memorable:

    1. Onsite Kids Drop-off Facility (Ages 5-12): Provided by Longleaf Learning Centre, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for the children while the adults enjoyed the festivities. Longleaf Learning Centre is known for being “a great place to grow.”
    2. Kids Zone: A separate counter filled with tons of activities planned specifically for kids, ensuring they had as much fun as the adults.
    3. Food and Snack Stalls: Delicious food and snacks were available for purchase from Chaat Bhavan, known for its mouth-watering Indian cuisine.

  1. Garba and Dandiya Music: Attendees danced the night away to the beats of DJ Desi Jammer, who kept the energy high with a mix of traditional and contemporary tunes.
  2. Dance Classes by Rangeela Raas: Dance classes conducted by Rangeela Raas before the event started helped everyone warm up and learn the steps, ensuring all could join in the fun.
  3. Performance by Bombay Jam: The Bombay Jam dance group delivered a dynamic performance, known for their energetic and entertaining routines.
  4. Free Dandiya Sticks: The first 50 attendees received free Dandiya sticks, with additional sticks available for purchase throughout the night.
  5. Rajasthani-Themed Decorations and Photo Booth: The vibrant culture of Rajasthan was brought to life with grand decorations, and attendees captured their best moments at the themed photo booth.
  6. Traditional Garba Performance: The extravagant Garb
  7. a performance by Rangeela Raas Rock Studio showcased the rich traditions of Navratri.
  8. Best Dressed Awards: Attendees dressed to impress, with prizes awarded for the Best Dressed Participant and Best Dressed Couple categories.

Project Oasis is dedicated to the well-being of people in India who are in desperate need of water. The project is transforming dry lands into fertile grounds by building check dams, providing a year-round water source. Each check dam ensures drinking and agricultural water supply for at l

east 1000 people throughout the year. The project has already completed the construction of one check dam and aims to create 13 more by May 13, 2020.
